My daughter recently relocated from Texas to this area to attend school. The car she took with her recently started acting up. When she first took it to PepBoy’s, they claimed it was the battery and charged her to replace it to a 5 year warranty battery that cost over $200 (for battery, labor and couple of test that they ran). I asked several times whether it was the alternator and they said it was not. Pepeboy’s was more interested in making money on her ignorance than really trying to get the car fixed. After a couple of days the car died on the road again. And in calling around, I was recommended Manny’s Honest1Auto care. I had her tow the vehicle over to Manny’s shop and they diagnosed it as a failing alternator, without charging us for testing (unlike Pepboy’s..right?). Manny laid out alternator options for us and even recommend that I pick up an alternator myself since it would be cheaper than him ordering an alternator. Manny was even kind enough to drive my daughter to pick up the alternator at the local parts store and drop my daughter off at her apartment, then take the car to his shop to replace the alternator. Manny gave me an estimate of 1 hour to replace the alternator, but it took him closer to 3 hours to do the job. After he had finished he drove the car back to my daughter’s apartment. Even though it took him more time to replace the alternator, Manny only charged me 1 hour for the labor. After couple of days, the car acted up again and the car was towed back to Manny’s shop. He thoroughly tested the vehicle and found the problem to a short in the radio. Manny found a fix around it and had the car running normally again. This took about 2-3 hours, but Manny only charged me 1 hour for his labor. I find Manny to be an exceptionally honest and caring person, who will go above and beyond just fixing the car. He sincerely cares about the safety of the people whose cars he fixes and never tries to cheat his customers out of making unnecessary repairs. I wish I could find more people like Manny in our everyday lives and would highly recommend him not only as a mechanic, but a good honest friend who you can rely on.
