This review is a little long but I feel compelled to tell the whole story... On March 16th I experienced a problem with my 2004 Dodge Dakota. All of a sudden it started missing horribly and I smelled gasoline. I limped the truck over to a nearby Firestone and rented a car. The next day I received a call from Firestone that there was no compression in cylinder #2 and they were unable to fix it - that I would have to take it to a Dodge dealer. Two days later, I drove the badly missing truck to the local Dodge dealer and l eft it. Next day I received a call from the dealer confirming no compression on two cylinders and that the engine needed to be replaced, along with a quote for over $16,000, which left me in a state of shock. I enquired as to the source they were going to use for the re-manufactured engine and they told me Jasper. I was familiar with the Jasper name as I had know others that used their engines. I asked the Dodge dealer why the cost was so high and was told their cost was over $8.000. That evening I went on Jasper's website and received a quote for the basic engine at $4,600. Obviously Dodge was nearly doubling their engine cost. Jasper's website also list their approved installers. The closest one to me was Honest-1 Auto Care in Davie. I stopped by Honest-1 the next day and requested a quote. They came back with a reasonable and expected price for the engine plus miscellaneous recommended parts and installation - a savings of over $6,000. I called Dodge not to proceed and that I was moving the truck, where upon they came back with a $4,000 price reduction - not even close to acceptable. Honest-1 ordered the new engine on March 24th with an expected delivery of two weeks. Delivery was delayed by Jasper a couple of weeks. It was finally received and installed along with the parts recommended by Jasper on April 26th. There was an unforeseen issue with the old plastic intake manifold which was found at startup as needing replacement. None were available in the parts aftermarket and therefore we had to go the factory route. I found Honest-1, especially Angel G, very accommodating and easy to work with Customer Service-wise, Price-wise and otherwise. I highly recommend them for any automotive service. I'm, very happy I found them...
